I recently went to the Yoshitaka Amano Exhibition in Sunshine City Mall, Ikebukuro. Here are my pictures and thoughts!
If you don’t know the man, let me introduce you to him. Yoshitaka Amano (天野喜孝) was born in Shizuoka, Japan and he is a prolific illustrator and artist. Among her most famous works, his illustrations for Vampire Hunter D and Sandman: The Dream Hunters. But probably his most famous works -and my personal favorites- are his amazing Final Fantasy illustrations.
To celebrate his extensive career and for the joy of Final Fantasy fans, The World of Final Fantasy and Yoshitaka Amano Exhibition (official name) is being held in Sunshine City mall, Ikebukuro. Until the 2nd of September, for a price of 2000￥ per ticket (1000￥ for students.
The exhibition includes different illustrations, from book covers to the Final Fantasy illustrations, covering all Final Fantasy games up to date. The exhibition holds around 150 Final Fantasy artwoks, making it the most ever displayed in one exhibition! Plus some more Yoshitaka Amano works, not related to the Final Fantasy saga but equally beautiful.
Camera, video-camera, tripods, selfie sticks and flash are strictly forbidden inside but smartphone photography is actually allowed!
We loved the Exhibition. The Hisbun wore his FFVII shirt and I wore my Moogle scarf (tied to the bag). Yes we’re THAT kind of people :D.
